The Back to School and Literacy Project
The Back to School and Literacy Project is a dual initiative designed to ensure that children remain in school, receive a proper education and gain literacy skills.
For many high school students in public schools, the motivation and desire to further their education or even complete high school has become increasingly challenging in the current economic climate.
The Back to School component of this project aims to ensure that students complete their secondary and tertiary education by paying students’ school and exam fees, providing essential school supplies to indigent children, and organizing seminars to encourage and guide students on life and career choices.
Conversely, the Literacy component focuses on teaching both children in underserved communities and students to properly read and write skills. The high number of non-literate public secondary school graduates inspired this prong of the project.
While the project began in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, Nigeria, it aims to expand to various other states in the country.
